They each have their own unique story and we will provide you with as much information as we possibly can about them. In order to meet one of our dogs you must first complete an application and become an approved foster or adopter.
We do our best to match dogs with the personalities of the animals in the home as well as an adopter's lifestyle. If you would like to be kept up to date on some of the newcomers please follow us on Facebook.
Please note available dogs are subject to change.
We do our very best to give the most current information on each dog available.
Abby is a German Shepherd mix who appears to be about 4 years old. She was found wandering in a residential area with no chip and no tag. Abby is a happy and smart girl, very eager to please. She loves to ride in the car and would be thrilled to live in a house with furniture privileges.
Abby’s favorite thing is to get belly rubs and supervise her foster mom. She’s not a huge fan of the crate but has great house manners and could likely be left uncrated for reasonable periods of time. Her favorite thing is to be close to her foster mom. She is typically curled up at her feet while she works and sleeps on the floor next to her bed. She likes to follow her everywhere she goes. Abby has never had an accident in the house, nor has she chewed anything. She will counter surf if left unattended. She needs work on her leash manners. Abby does bark occasionally, but not incessantly and is easily corrected.
Abby gets along well with MALE dogs. She is reactive to outside cats. She would love nothing more than to curl up on the couch with you to binge watch something. Abby is not a yard dog, she is a house dog who wants to be with you.
If you are looking for a new best friend, Abby is your girl!
Gabriel and Ghost
We are a pair of BIG boys (over 90 pounds each!) that like to cuddle with our people, lounge around the house, and take long walks as a family. We are good with other large dogs and have so far been cat friendly as well! Ghost does have a thyroid condition that will require lifelong management with medication, but he takes his medicine very well.
These two are likely related (either brothers from different litters or father and son) and were very lucky to stay together in their amazing foster home. We have determined them to be a BONDED PAIR and will only adopt them to a home willing to adopt them both. They get anxious when separated and we do not want to further traumatize these buddies!
This senior Fawn Lady was found wondering in the wild with a gentleman companion (a male Fawn Dobie).
She is making progress everyday. A bit slower of a learner, perhaps that will improve over time. She enjoys watching the other dogs sometimes. I’m hoping she’ll pick up some tips.
She has a voice! Kind of howlie and like she’s been goosed
Still hates grass but potties outside on cement, wood or rocks.
She can hold it forever and cries when she has to go.
Will chew on hard bones no soft toys.
All foods are new to her to include treats.
She has claimed the dog bed she found.
She stole an antler from my pit bull!
She sleeps a ton and loves her beds.
Won’t come on the couch yet, which could be good bc we get packed up here.
She loves scratches and pets. I get greeted now with tail wiggles and nose pokes.
Man! I am so glad I’m in rescue! I was found as a stray in Alabama and picked up by animal control. I was brought into rescue, and I’m so thankful for it! I’m a sweet fellow that loves affection and really likes being outdoors with you! I’m also somewhat of a mystery man - I have the body of an older dog, but the face of a young pup! Who’s to say what my age really is?? I am great with other dogs of all kinds, though I would also be content to be an only dog.
Fancy
Our new female senior addition. We are just learning about her, but we know she is sweet and gentle and wants to be loved.Ms. Fancy is settling in with her foster family. She has learned about couches and soft beds. She is fitting in great with the foster pup brothers and sisters. Fancy has been doing well with the farm life and has met a couple of horses. She was just so happy to be "helping mom" with the chores she didn't really seem to pay any attention to the horses.Stay tuned for more.
Riddle
He is the sweetest and eager to please. So so very smart! He knows sit, wait, easy. He's getting "kennel" down... but he'll make sure you have that treat in your hand before actually gets in. He watches everything. No prey drive to note. Gets along and tries to play with cats. He listens when they want to be left alone and doesn't chase or push the subject. He loves to put the side of his ear on your chest and get lovins... it's almost like his own version of a hug...."I just wanted to say hi".
Hey! I’m Latte, a 3 year old female Dobermix.
I am a lovely young Dober-bull (we think). A wonderful mix of doberman, bully and Dragon. Yes, Dragon - but the good kind - I "hoard" my toys and nest on top of them, like a Dragon with her treasure! I am sweet, relaxed and calm. I get along great with my foster sisters, I am crate and house trained, and I live to please!
Dogs Not Quite Ready
Dogs here need a little extra time before finding their forever homes. Some just need a few weeks, others a few months.
If you see *Pending Adoption this means they have found a perfect match once treatment is over. Some may still become available.

Radiance
Adoption Pending
Radiance - Radiance is very eager to please and knows 'sit'. We are working on place and stay currently - she loves working before bedtime! She has been very polite around kids (ages 4-14). Radiance crates very well and really appreciates having a cushion in there with her. She seems to do ok with other dogs, though she can be talkative and cranky if food is involved. She has done great with her potty training! She walks well on a leash and will happily jump in a car to go for a ride! She is a pretty and petite girl right now, but will be even more beautiful when she gains some weight!

Celeste
Celeste came in as part of a trio of abandoned girls with Demodex - they are currently being treated and getting evaluated.
She is super sweet. She loves cuddles and kisses. She will lick you to death is you let her. She LOVES to play with all of our dogs. Male or feamle, she's down to play. Very treat motivated. She knows how to sit and go to bed. She wants all of your attention at most times. She's easy to handle in terms of bathing, ear cleaning, and nail trims.
We are working on over excitement jumping and taking and chewing things she shouldn't/mostly just normal young puppy stuff.

Dove
DOVE - INFO coming soon.
Dove came in as part of a trio of abandoned girls with Demodex - they are currently being treated and getting evaluated. She loves toys - her current favorite game is to get them one by one (after foster Mom has put them away) and carry them to the crate. Dove isn't fast to trust, but will give gentle kisses once you earn her trust. She looks to her foster siblings for guidance and enjoys a good yard romp!

FurEver Foster
Sometimes a Dog comes into rescue who can never be officially adopted due to extreme health issues that cannot be resolved. These pups have AMAZINGLY DEVOTED Forever Foster Parents who monitor their conditions and see to their medical needs in addition to giving all the love our regular Foster Families provide. SHDSR covers the cost of their care for life.

Lando is a 10 year old male who lived a rough life. Lack of care has left him with tumors, chronic injuries, and is currently in advanced stages of Heartworm Disease. He will live out his life under the care of SHDSR in his foster home.

10 years old with Heartworms. Due to the stress he has at the vets office, it is in his best interested to do slow kill method and let him live his life out with his foster family.

Captain is a 10 year old boy who has extensive allergies and is HW positive. He will live out his golden years with his FurEver Foster momma where he will be spoiled rotten.

Good Golly Ms. Molly! Isn't she just the cutest thing ever. Molly has a few rare genetic conditions, one being a disease so rare it has yet to be named but leaves her with zebra stripes. She is our special girl and will be living out her life under the care of SHDSR.

Pierce is a FurEver foster because he has a bleeding disorder as well as a liver condition. While his condition has not been pin pointed, he will be treated like a vWB dog and will receive the best care possible.
